Common Ground is a photographic meditation on reciprocity; an exploration of our relationship with the natural world and the ways we mirror our treatment of the land in our treatment of one another. Using colors extracted from each image as its background, the work recognizes Mother Earth as the source from which all creative expression begins.
She is teacher, caretaker, quiet collaborator, holder, healer, and Mother. In caring for that which gives us life, we cultivate a greater capacity to care for one another.
Originally created alongside advocacy for the protection of the U.S. Roadless Rule, Common Ground was conceived as a call to action—an invitation to remember that the well-being of our communities and the well-being of the Earth are inseparable, and that every act of care begins with the ground beneath our feet.
